Sensex soars 281pts; BHEL zooms 6%

The Sensex is now up 281 points at 13,227.

BHEL has soared nearly 6% to Rs 2,227. Larsen & Toubro and Maruti have rallied 4% each to Rs 1,563 and Rs 824, respectivey.

HLL, SBI and ONGC have surged around 3.5% each to Rs 198, Rs 1,016 and Rs 840, respectively.

HDFC Bank has advanced over 3% to Rs 996. Reliance Communications, Tata Motors and Hero Honda have added 2.5% each to Rs 420, Rs 795 and Rs 666, respectively.

The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,044 stocks traded so far, 1,485 have advanced, 504 have declined and 55 are unchanged.
