The Sensex has touched a high of 10,180, and is now up 94 points at 10,173. Larsen & Toubro has rallied 4.7% to Rs 2,351. Ranbaxy has surged 3% to Rs 451. Hindalco has spurted 2.2% to Rs 158. Tata Steel is up 1.8% at Rs 402. Hero Honda, Wipro, ITC, HDFC, Tata Motors, Reliance Energy, Tata Power, BHEL, Bharti, ONGC, Dr.Reddy's and Cipla have gained 1-2% each. Grasim, the only notable loser among the Sensex stocks, is down nearly 1% at Rs 1,650. The market breadth is fairly positive. Out of 2,248 stocks traded so far, 1,386 have advanced, 790 have declined and the rest are unchanged. Larsen & Toubro tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 36.05 crore shares followed by Gujarat Alkalies (Rs 31.87 crore), Adlabs (Rs 30.99 crore), Tata Steel (Rs 26.89 crore) and Reliance Capital Ventures (RCVL), demerged arm of Reliance Industries, opened at Rs 25. The stock has slipped to a low of Rs 22 and has clocked a turnover of Rs 22.86 crore. Reliance Capital Ventures leads the volume chart with trades of around 1.07 crore shares followed by GSPC (28.58 lakh), IDFC (27.42 lakh), Gujarat Alkalies (20.72 lakh) and HFCL (17.10 lakh). |
