Sensex soars over 100pts, nears 10,500

The Sensex has extended gains. The index touched a new all-time intra-day high of 10,475, and is now up 103 points at 10,474.

ACC continues to lead the upmove with a gain of nearly 5% at Rs 659.

BHEL and Maruti have surged over 4% each to Rs 2,110 and Rs 856, respectively.

Grasim, Tata Motors, Hindalco, Gujarat Ambuja, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Power, Satyam, Bajaj Auto, Dr.Reddy's, HLL and Hero Honda are up 1-3% each.

ONGC continues to languish with a loss of 1.5% at Rs 1,120. Wipro has slipped 1.3% to Rs 514.

Out of 2,449 stocks traded so far, 1,257 have advanced, 1,114 have declined and the rest are unchanged.

Kesoram Industries has zoomed 11% to Rs 185. Balmer Lawrie, Goodricke, Harrison Malyalam, Williamson Tea, Madras Cement, Century Textiles, Birla Corporation, BEML, Nestle, Polaris, Jaiprakash Associates, Crompton Greaves, India Cement and Colgate are trading with sharp gains.

Jindal Photo has plunged nearly 8% to Rs 169. Supreme Petro, Zenith, Indo Rama, IDFC, Classic Diamond, IFCI, KLG Systel, Canara Bank, Zee, Chambal Fertilisers, Jindal Steel and Gujarat Narmada are the other major losers.

Debutant Sadbhav Enggneering tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 208.69 crore followed by Maruti (Rs 107.96 crore), Tata Motors (Rs 73.10 crore), HDFC (Rs 72.40 crore) and Reliance Capital (Rs 71.93 crore).

Newly listed Reliance Natural Resources leads the volume chart with trades of around 1.54 crore shares followed by IDFC (99.40 lakh), Sadbhav Enggneering (81.04 lakh), Assam Company (29.70 lakh) and India Cement (24.60 lakh).
