Sensex stages partial recovery, down 357pts

The Sensex has recovered partially from the day's low of 13,780, and is now down 357 points at 14,001.

Satyam and Maruti have plunged over 6% each to Rs 438 and Rs 742, respectively. Tata Steel has slumped 5.6% to Rs 543.

ACC, Ranbaxy and Bharti Airtel have tumbled 3.8% each to Rs 842, Rs 347 and Rs 771, respectively.

NTPC and ONGC have shed 3.5% each to Rs 162 and Rs 790, respectively. Infosys and HDFC have dropped 3.3% each to Rs 1,846 and Rs 1,823, respectively.

ITC and Hindalco are down 3% each at Rs 153 and Rs 141, respectively.

Out of 2,619 stocks traded so far, 2,091 have declined, 498 have advanced and 30 4 are unchanged.
