Sensex steady; BHEL, Rel Infra up 4%

The Sensex continues to display firm trend, and is now up 144 points at 9,610.

Tata Steel has surged nearly 5% to Rs 195. Mahindra & Mahindra has rallied 4.5% to Rs 313.

BHEL and Reliance Infrastructure have gained over 4% each to Rs 1,471 and Rs 572, respectively.

ACC has moved up 3.5% to Rs 568. Jaiprakash Associates is up over 3% to Rs 75.

Larsen & Toubro is up nearly 3% to Rs 701. SBI, Reliance Communications, Reliance, ICICI Bank and Maruit  are up 2.7% each at Rs 1,191, Rs 177, Rs 1,388, Rs 433 and Rs 630, respectively.

 

Sun Pharma, however, has slipped over 1% to Rs 1,093.

The market breadth is significantly positive - out of 2,268 stocks traded so far, 1,415 have advanced, 751 have declined and 102 are unchanged.
