Sensex steady, ICICI Bank gains ground

The Sensex has added five points to 6,905 following selective buying in banking, tech and other old economy counters. The Nifty is down a point at 2,123.

ICICI Bank, which announced hike in home loan interest rates, has resumed 1.89% higher (Rs 8) to Rs 424. While HDFC Bank is up Rs 2 at Rs 597, SBI has dropped 1.51% (Rs 10) to Rs 669.

ITC has advanced 1.34% (Rs 21) to Rs 1,570. Reliance is down Rs 2 at Rs 588.

Infosys has dipped Rs 10 to Rs 2,270. TCS and Wipro have commenced with steady gains at Rs 1,283 and Rs 738, respectively.

Bajaj, after registering strong gains yesterday, has slipped a per cent (Rs 10) to Rs 1,242. Hero Honda is weak at Rs 548.

Dr. Reddy's is up a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 729. Other pharma majors have logged steady gains.

L&T has gained a per cent (Rs 10) to Rs 1,137.
