Sensex steady; ICICI, HDFC Bank rally 4%

The NSE Nifty is up 29 points at 4,121.

Reliance Communications has soared 4.3% to Rs 454. ICICI Bank has surged over 4% to Rs 643, and HDFC Bank has rallied 3.6% to Rs 1,071.

Cipla and Ranbaxy have gained 3.5% each at Rs 223 and Rs 452, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever and SBI have moved up 3.3% each to Rs 227 and Rs 1,342, respectively. ITC has added 3% to Rs 182.

Jaiprakash Associates has advanced 2.3% to Rs 164. Mahindra & Mahindra has gained 2% at Rs 531.

Wipro, Tata Steel and ACC have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 372, Rs 603 and Rs 548, respectively.

 

NTPC and Reliance Infrastructure are also up 1.7% each at Rs 176 and Rs 870, respectively.

Satyam has tumbled over 3% to Rs 371. Larsen & Toubro has shed 2% at Rs 2,496.

DLF has dropped 1.3% to Rs 451. BHEL and Bharti Airtel are down 1% each at Rs 1,515 and Rs 794, respectively.

Out of 2,305 stocks traded so far, 1,207 have declined, 1,027 have advanced and 71 are unchanged.
