Sensex steady, up 133pts; Rel Energy soars 4%

The Sensex is now up 135 points at 16,699.

Reliance Energy has soared 4% to Rs 1,050. Maruti has surged 2.8% to Rs 955, and Bharti Airtel has moved up 2.3% to Rs 940.

BHEL, ICICI Bank, Reliance and Reliance Communications have rallied 2% each to Rs 2,008, Rs 985, Rs 2,320 and Rs 591, respectively.

NTPC, SBI and Larsen & Toubro have advanced 1.8% each to Rs 191, Rs 1,841 and Rs 2,833, respectively.

Tata Steel and HDFC Bank have gained 1.5% each at Rs 753 and Rs 1,343, respectively. Hindalco is up 1.3% at Rs 162.

Infosys has dropped 2.6% to Rs 1,774. ITC has shed 1.7% to Rs 188.

Ambuja Cements and Satyam are down 1% each at Rs 145 and Rs 415, respectively.

Out of 2,621 stocks traded so far, 1,327 have advanced, 1,239 have declined and 55 are unchanged.
