The Sensex is now up 145 points at 10,887. Earlier in the day, the index opened with a positive gap of 134 points at 10,876, touched a high of 10,932, and soon tumbled into red to a low of 10,656 - down 276 points from the day's high.
Jaiprakash Associates has zoomed over 10% to Rs 117. Tata Steel and ICICI Bank have soared around 5.5% each to Rs 256 and Rs 397, respectively.
Reliance Infrastructure has surged nearly 4% to Rs 642. Larsen & Toubro, DLF and Tata Motors have rallied around 3.5% each to Rs 836, Rs 219 and Rs 230, respectively.
Bharti Airtel, Sterlite and Ranbaxy have gained around 3% each at Rs 684, Rs 396 and Rs 193, respectively.
Hindustan Unilever have slumped over 3% to Rs 233. ONGC and Wipro have dropped 2% each to Rs 887 and Rs 277, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra has slipped 1.5% to Rs 443.
The market breadth is very positive - out of 2,457 stocks traded, 1,824 have advanced, 561 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
