Sensex steady, up 88pts

The Sensex is now up 88 points at 12,811.

Tata Steel has surged 2.7% to Rs 515 after reports that Corus has accepted Tatas $7.6 bn takeover bid.

Wipro has advanced 2% to Rs 561. BHEL and Reliance have gained 1.7% each to Rs 2,457 and Rs 1,215, respectively.

Reliance Energy and Bharti Airtel have moved up 1.5% each to Rs 459 and Rs 498, respectively.

Cipla, Gujarat Ambuja, Tata Motors and Ranbaxy are up 1% each at Rs 263, Rs 122, Rs 899 and Rs 415, respectively.

Out of 2,299 stocks traded so far, 1,492 have advanced, 727 have declined and 80 are unchanged.
