Sensex steady, up 90pts at 10,169

The Sensex has firmed up at current levels, and is now up 90 points at 10,169.

Ranbaxy has moved up 3.6% to Rs 454. Larsen & Toubro has added 3.2% to Rs 2,318.

Tata Steel has rallied over 2% to Rs 404. Bharti, Hindalco, HDFC, ONGC, Dr.Reddy's, Wipro, Tata Power, Hero Honda, Bajaj Auto, BHEL and Reliance Energy are the other notable gainers among the Sensex stocks.

HLL has shed 1% to Rs 236. Grasim and Infosys are the other notabler losers.

The market breadth continues to remain positive. Out of 2,422 stocks traded so far, 1,371 have moved up, 973 have slipped and 78 are unchanged.

Gujarat Alkalies tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 59.78 crore followed by Larsen & Toubro (Rs 46.98 crore), Adlabs (Rs 39.87 crore), Tata Steel (Rs 36.45 crore) and PBA Infrastructure (Rs 35.48 crore).

Reliance Cap Ventures continues to lead the volume chart with trades of around 1.19 crore shares followed by Gujarat Alkalies (37.15 lakh), GSPC (33.34 lakh), IDFC (28.63 lakh) and HFCL (26 lakh).
