Sensex still in red; Grasim soars 8%

The Sensex is now down 64 points at 10,211. Earlier in the day, the index opened 18 points lower at 10,258 on mixed global cues, thereafter, rebounded and touched a high of 10,386.

Grasim has zoomed 8% to Rs 1,331, and Satyam has soared 6.7% to Rs 178.

ACC has surged nearly 5% to Rs 531. Mahindra & Mahindra has rallied 4.7% to Rs 311.

Sterlite and HDFC have advanced over 3% each to Rs 312 and Rs 1,678, respectively.

Tata Motors and HDFC Bank have gained 2.8% each at Rs 184 and Rs 1,072, respectively.

ICICI Bank is up 2% at Rs 510, and BHEL has added 1.6% to Rs 1,461.

 

Reliance Communications and DLF have slumped 6.3% each to Rs 247 and Rs 277, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure has shed 4.5% at Rs 636. Tata Power, Bharti Airtel and SBI have dropped nearly 4% each to Rs 798, Rs 659 and Rs 1,309, respectively.

NTPC has shed 3% at Rs 176. TCS has plunged 2.5% to Rs 502.

Infosys, ONGC and Wipro are down around 2% each at Rs 1,151, Rs 709 and Rs 241, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,547 stocks traded so far, 1,418 have declined, 1,040 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
