Sensex still in red; HDFC gains 4%

The NSE Nifty is down 31 points at 4,473.

HDFC has rallied over 4% to Rs 2,330. ONGC has surged 3% to Rs 879.

NTPC has gained 2% at Rs 168.

Jaiprakash Associates has plunged over 3% to Rs 172. Cipla and Reliance Communications have dropped 2.7% each to Rs 212 and Rs 512, respectively.

Maruti has slipped 2.3% to Rs 729, and TCS has declined over 2% to Rs 867.

Reliance and Bharti Airtel have shed 1.5% each at Rs 2,211 and Rs 793, respectively.

Tata Motors and Ranbaxy are down over 1% each to Rs 497 and Rs 546, respectively.

 

ACC and Ambuja Cements are also down 1% each at Rs 634 and Rs 88, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,267 stocks traded so far, 1,479 have declined, 728 have advanced and 60 are unchanged.
