Sensex still weak, auto stocks recover

The market has curbed its losses in mid-noon trades on buying in auto, select heavyweights and old economy counters. The Sensex is now down 22 points at 6,562 due to weakness in tech and select banking stocks. The Nifty is subdued at 2,048 - down eight points.

ITC is trading a per cent lower (Rs 11) at Rs 1,272, while HLL is still down a rupee at Rs 144. Reliance, however, is marginally up at Rs 535.

SBI has rolled back into the green with a per cent gain (Rs 5) at Rs 663. HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank are still trading weaker by a per cent each at Rs 560 and Rs 378, respectively.

Infosys (down Rs 12 to Rs 2,154), Wipro (down Rs 7 to Rs 684) and Satyam (down Rs 2 to Rs 402) are still exhibiting a subdued trend.

Bharti has edged lower by 1.21% (Rs 3) to Rs 215. BHEL has lost 1.44% (Rs 12) to Rs 840. While Hindalco has come off its lows to Rs 1,361 (down Rs 12), Tisco is trading lower by Rs 3 at Rs 411.

ONGC is up a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 811.

Hero Honda has moved up 1.50% (Rs 8) to Rs 544, while Maruti has gained 1.60% (Rs 7) to Rs 470. Tata Motors is up Rs 2 at Rs 480.
