Sensex strong in early trades

The Sensex opened at 17,389 tracking positive global cues. The index is now firm at 17,476, up 92 points. The NSE Nifty is at 5,228, up 29 points.

Among the Sensex-30 stocks, Reliance Communications and DLF have added 1% each to Rs 162 and Rs 316, respectively.

Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Tata Power, Reliance Infrastructure and Tata Steel have added over 0.5% each at Rs 1,075, Rs 938, Rs 1,390, Rs 1,000 and Rs 632, respectively.

The other prominent gainers were Wipro, ICICI Bank, Hero Hond and Hindalco.
