Sensex surges 103pts; ICICI Bank soars 5.6%

The Sensex opened a tad (three points) higher at 9746, and slipped a bit to touch a low of 9740. The index thereafter has rallied to a high of 9848, and is now up 103 points at 9846.

ICICI Bank has soared 5.6% to Rs 603.

Larsen & Toubro has rallied 3.6% to Rs 2,279.

BHEL, Ranbaxy, NTPC, Gujarat Ambuja, ACC, Infosys, Satyam and Tata Motors have also gained smartly.

Reliance Energy has slipped over 1% to Rs 592.

The market breadth is extremely positive. Out of 2,018 stocks traded so far, 1,288 have moved up, 683 have slipped and 47 are unchanged.
