Sensex surges 166pts; Bajaj, Bharti soar 5%

The Sensex is now up 166 points at 14,357.

Bajaj Auto and Bharti Airtel have surged 5% each to Rs 3,089 and Rs 765, respectively.  Reliance Energy has rallied 3.5% to Rs 553.

ONGC has surged 3% to Rs 891, and Wipro has advanced 2.4% to Rs 644.

Tata Motors and ICICI Bank have gained 2% each at Rs 893 and Rs 983, respectively. Reliance has moved up 1.7% to Rs 1,379.

Hindalco has slipped over 3% to Rs 145. HDFC Bank has shed 1.5% to Rs 1,077.

Out of 2,476 stocks traded so far, 1,592 have advanced, 833 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
