Sensex surges 179pts; Tata Motors, REL soar 4%

The Sensex is now up 179 points at 14,343.

Tata Motors has soared over 4% to Rs 648. Reliance Energy has surged 3.7% to Rs 732.

ACC, ONGC and SBI have rallied around 3% each to Rs 1,004, Rs 807 and Rs 1,456, respectively.

Satyam and Tata Steel have gained 2.7% each at Rs 434 and Rs 575, respectively.

Maruti and Hindalco have advanced over 2% each to Rs 794 and Rs 142, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra, BHEL and Ranbaxy have moved up 1.8% each to Rs 636, Rs 1,692 and Rs 355, respectively.

Reliance has added 1.7% to Rs 1,772. NTPC, Reliance Communications, Larsen & Toubro, Wipro and Grasim are the other major gainers.

Out of 2,524 stocks traded so far, 1,402 have advanced, 1,046 have declined and 76 are unchanged.
