Sensex surges 223pts; ICICI Bank leads

The Sensex is now up 223 points at 13,404.

ICICI Bank has surged over 4% to Rs 864. Gujarat Ambuja, Reliance Communications and HDFC have rallied around 3.5% each to Rs 139, Rs 448 and Rs 1,550, respectively.

NTPC and Reliance Energy have advanced 3% each to Rs 144 and Rs 530, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and Grasim have moved up 2.5% each to Rs 614 and Rs 2,677, respectively.

Hindalco, Satyam, ACC, ONGC, Infosys, Maruti, Tata Motors and Reliance are the other major gainers.

Out of 2,344 stocks traded so far, 1,895 have advanced, 399 have declined and 50 are unchanged.
