Sensex surges 232pts; ONGC gains 4%

The Sensex is now up 232 points at 12,812.

Gujarat Ambuja has soared 5.4% to Rs 110. ONGC has surged 3.5% to Rs 793.

Hindalco, Dr.Reddy's and Wipro have rallied around 3% each to Rs 131, Rs 654 and Rs 573, respectively.

ICICI Bank has moved up 2.7% to Rs 849. Infosys, TCS, Larsen & Toubro and Reliance have gained around 2% each at Rs 2,140, Rs 1,219, Rs 1,485 and Rs 1,315, respectively.

Maruti has shed 1.5% to Rs 764, and Hero Honda has slipped over 1% to Rs 659.

Out of 2,220 stocks traded so far, 1,314 have declined, 845 have advanced and 61 are unchanged.
