Sensex surges 260pts; RIL, REL zoom 6%

The Sensex is up 260 points at 9556.

Reliance (RIL) and Reliance Energy (REL) have rallied 6% each to Rs 873 and Rs 400, respectively. Grasim has surged 5.7% to Rs 1,652.

ITC has moved up 4.4% to Rs 154. Ranbaxy and Tata Steel have gained 3.8% each at Rs 356 and Rs 442, respectively.

NTPC is up 3.4% at Rs 104. Infosys and Wipro have advanced 3% each to Rs 2,785 and Rs 431, respectively.

ICICI Bank has dropped 2.4% to Rs 488, and HDFC Bank is down 1% at Rs 682.

Out of 1,949 stocks traded so far, 1,132 have declined, 778 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
