Sensex surges 354pts; breadth +ve

The Sensex is now up 354 points at 13,300.

BHEL has zoomed 5.7% to Rs 2,222. Larsen & Toubro, ONGC, Maruti and SBI have soared around 5% each to Rs 1,580, Rs 854, Rs 831 and Rs 1,029, respectively.

HDFC Bank and Hero Honda have advanced around 3.8% each to Rs 1,003 and Rs 675, respectively. ICICI Bank, HLL and Reliance Communications have added 3.5% each to Rs 902, Rs 197 and Rs 424, respectively.

Satyam, ITC, Wipro, TCS and Bharti Airtel are the other major gainers.

Out of 2,575 stocks traded so far, 1,684 have advanced, 804 have declined and 87 are unchanged.
