The Sensex has surged to higher levels on the back of sustained buying following a sharp drop in crude oil prices. The index is now up 374 points at 14,872. The US crude oil futures have dropped below the $107-mark, down almost 8%.
ONGC has soared 6.5% to Rs 1,096.
Jaiprakash Associates, SBI and ICICI Bank have rallied over 5% each to Rs 171, Rs 1,488 and Rs 698, respectively.
Reliance Infrastructure has surged 4.3% to Rs 1,026. Larsen & Toubro has gained 3.8% at Rs 2,660.
Reliance Communications, Tata Power and Maruti have advanced 2.7% each to Rs 400, Rs 1,067 and Rs 651, respectively.
ACC, NTPC and Wipro have added 2.5% each to Rs 579, Rs 178 and Rs 445, respectively.
