Sensex surges 505pts; tech stocks lead

The Sensex has rallied over 500 points on the back of a pull back in global markets. The index is now up 505 points at 19,667.

Wipro has zoomed 6.4% to Rs 523. Infosys and TCS have soared 4.8% each to Rs 1,780 and Rs 1,096, respectively. Satyam has surged 3.8% to Rs 444.

Tata Steel has rallied 4.7% to Rs 863, and HDFC has gained 4.4% at Rs 2,844.

ICICI Bank and ONGC have moved up 3.8% each to Rs 1,201 and Rs 1,236, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra has advanced over 3% to Rs 810. BHEL and Bharti Airtel have added 2.8% each to Rs 2,437 and Rs 940, respectively.

HDFC Bank, Reliance Energy and ITC are up 2.3% each at Rs 1,685, Rs 1,986 and Rs 201, respectively.

Out of 2,765 stocks traded so far, 1,985 have advanced, 741 have declined and 39 are unchanged.
