Sensex surges 80 points

After opening with a positive gap of 17 points at 8655, the Sensex continues its upward journey. The index has touched a high of 8727, and is currently up 80 points at 8718.

The Nifty has gained 22 points at 2631.

Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, only two stocks are in red - Hindalco and Ranbaxy. While ITC is the major gainer, up 2.7% at Rs 133 followed by Hindalco at Rs 124 up 2.2%.
