Sensex surges 85pts; breadth +ve

The Sensex is now up 85 points at 12,987.

Tata Steel, HDFC and HDFC Bank have advanced 1.3% each to Rs 442, Rs 1,605 and Rs 963, respectively.

Satyam, Reliance Communications, BHEL, Wipro, ICICI Bank, SBI and TCS are up over 1% each to Rs 448, Rs 421, Rs 2,126, Rs 579, Rs 879, Rs 987 and Rs 1,251, respectively.

Ranbaxy has slipped over 1% to Rs 320.

The market breadth is positive - out of 1,959 stocks traded so far, 1,371 have advanced, 537 have declined and 51 are unchanged.
