Sensex surges 96pts; HLL surges 2%

The Sensex is now up 96 points at 12,270.

HDFC has rallied 2% to Rs 1,419. HLL has moved up 1.8% to Rs 257.

ICICI Bank and TCS have gained 1.4% each at Rs 669 and Rs 1,039, respectively. Wipro has spurted 1.3% to Rs 521.

SBI, HDFC Bank, Reliance and Bajaj Auto are up over 1% each.

ITC and Bharti Airtel are the only losers among the index stocks.

Out of 2,532 stocks traded so far, 1,236 have declined, 1,200 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
