Sensex surges 97pts; cement stocks firm

The Sensex is now up 97 points at 12,883.

Tata Steel has soared over 6% to Rs 465. ACC, Reliance Energy and Gujarat Ambuja have surged around 2.5% each to Rs 733, Rs 500 and Rs 108, respectively.

HLL, Hindalco and Grasim have rallied around 2% each to Rs 202, Rs 133 and Rs 2,102, respectively.

Tata Motors and SBI have advanced around 1.5% each to Rs 693 and Rs 950, respectively. 

Hero Honda has slipped 1.4% to Rs 635, and Dr.Reddy's is down 1% at Rs 738.

Out of 2,489 stocks traded so far, 1,625 have advanced, 791 have declined and 73 are unchanged.
