Sensex tanks 761pts on global worries

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 335 points at 13,666, amid turmoil in US financial sector. The index has slipped deeper into red and is now down 761 points 13,240.

Sterlite has slumped 9.5% to Rs 441. Satyam and Reliance Infrastructure have plunged around 9% each to Rs 369 and Rs 847, respectively.

DLF and Jaiprakash Associates have shed around 8.5% each at Rs 428 and Rs 146.

ICICI Bank has tumbled 7.7% to Rs 603, and HDFC Bank has dropped 7% to RS 1,158.

BHEL and TCS have slipped 6.7% each to Rs 1,582 and Rs 754, respectively.

 

SBI and Wipro have declined 6% each to Rs 1,420 and Rs 394, respectively.

All index stocks are in red with losses in excess of 3% each.
