Sensex trapped in a range, up 23pts

The Sensex is moving in an extremely narrow range of 30-odd points and is now up 23 points at 10,775.

BHEL has surged 3.5% to Rs 2,175, and NTPC has gained 2.8% at Rs 119.

Tata Motors has advanced nearly 2% to Rs 746. Dr.Reddy's, Larsen & Toubro, Hindalco, SBI and Ranbaxy are up 1% each at Rs 1,406, Rs 2,278, Rs 159, Rs 819 and Rs 374, respectively.

Wipro, Reliance Communications and HDFC are down 1% each at Rs 491, Rs 257 and Rs 1,178, respectively.

Out of 2,291 stocks traded so far, 1,208 have advanced, 1,010 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
