Sensex trims losses, down 27 pts

Partial recovery in select counters coupled with stock-specific gains has minimised the losses of the index, after a weak opening and subseqent fall thereafter.

The Sensex is now down 27 points at 6,428. The Nifty, too, has trimmed its losses to 1,983 - down 11 points.

ITC and ONGC are trading a per cent lower each at Rs 1,460 (down Rs 9) and Rs 873 (down Rs 6), respectively. HLL is marginally down at Rs 132. Reliance, however, has rolled back with a gain of Rs 3 at Rs 546.

Infosys, after a weak opening, is trading lower by 1.10% (Rs 23) at Rs 2,038. While Satyam has dipped 1.22% (Rs 5) to Rs 425, Wipro is down a per cent (Rs 7) at Rs 641.

HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank are down a per cent each at Rs 534 (down Rs 5) and Rs 390 (down Rs 3), respectively. SBI, too, is weak at Rs 614 - down Rs 2.

Hindalco has reversed its trend into the green to Rs 1,215 - up Rs 15 or 1.23%.

Tata Motors is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 431. Other auto majors, however, are exhibiting a divergent trend.
