Sensex tumbles into red, now down 41pts

A heavy bout of selling saw the Sensex tumble into the negative zone to a low of 10,864 - down 153 points from the high. The index is now 41 points at 10,941.

BHEL is standing firm with a gain of 3.6% at Rs 2,184. Cipla has surged 2.2% at Rs 602.

Bharti Tele has spurted 1.3% to Rs 390.

Tata Motors has plunged 3.7% to Rs 905.

Wipro has dropped 2.6% to Rs 530. HDFC and Satyam have tumbled over 2% each to Rs 1,306 and Rs 803, respectively.

Gujarat Ambuja, Bajaj Auto, Ranbaxy, HDFC Bank, Maruti, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Maruti are also trading with significant losses.

The market breadth is extremely negative. Out of 2,587 stocks traded so far, 1,614 have declined, 900 have advanced and 73 are unmoved.
