Sensex up 1,013pts; Satyam zooms 12%

The Sensex is now up 1,013 points at 17,743.

The NSE Nifty is up 344 points at 5,243.

Satyam has zoomed over 12% to Rs 398. NTPC and Reliance Energy have soared 10.7% each to Rs 218 and Rs 1,900, respectively.

TCS has surged 10.4% to Rs 882. HDFC Bank has rallied 9% to Rs 1,570.

Hindalco, BHEL and Bajaj Auto have advanced 8% each to Rs 163, Rs 2,154 and Rs 2,225, respectively.

Reliance Communications, DLF and Reliance have gained around 7.5% each at Rs 620, Rs 934 and Rs 2,535, respectively.

ONGC has moved up 6.7% to Rs 1,027. SBI has advanced 6.3% to Rs 2,296, and ITC has added 5.8% to Rs 195.

Grasim, ACC, Hindustan Unilever and Ranbaxy are up around 5% each at Rs 3,011, Rs 759, Rs 196 and Rs 358, respectively.

Out of 2,686 stocks traded, 1,342 have declined, 1,312 have advanced and 32 are unchanged.
