Sensex up 100pts; breadth marginally +ve

The Sensex after opening 68 points lower at 9,042, touched a low of 9,035, before rebounding into the positive zone. The index rallied to a high of 9,261 - up 226 points from the day's low. The index is now up 104 points at 9,214.

Infosys has surged over 5% to Rs 1,219. Tata Power has gained 3.5% at Rs 753.

ITC and Ranbaxy have rallied over 3% each to Rs 170 and Rs 213, respectively.

Wipro has moved up 2.7% to Rs 234. DLF and Reliance Infrastructure have advanced 2.3% each to Rs 211 and Rs 492, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates and ACC have gained over 2% each at Rs 71 and Rs 506, respectively.

 

Bharti Airtel has plunged 3.3% to Rs 604. Tata Motors has tumbled 2.8% to Rs 157.

Grasim and Tata Steel have slipped 2.3% each at Rs 1,328 and Rs 196, respectively.

NTPC has dropped 1.6% to Rs 168. Hindustan Unilever and HDFC Bank are down 1.3% each at Rs 259 and Rs 992, respectively.

The market breadth is marginally positive - out of 2,068 stocks traded so far, 995 have moved up, 982 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
