The Sensex opened 67 points higher at 14,611. The index is now up 100 points at 14,644.
Sterlite, Jaiprakash Associates and Tata Steel have surged over 2% each to Rs 615, Rs 173 and Rs 612, respectively.
Reliance Communications, BHEL and SBI have rallied 1.8% each to Rs 407, Rs 1,707 and Rs 1,469, respectively.
ACC and DLF have gained 1.5% each at Rs 569 and Rs 508, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra, however, is down over 1% at Rs 555.
