The Nifty is trading 22 points higher at 5047.
HDFC Bank is trading 1.95% higher at Rs 1,407, Jaiprakash Associates is up 1.9% at Rs 251 and Bharti has advanced 1.55% to Rs 830. Reliance Communications, Cipla, Reliance Infra, TCS, HDFC and ONGC have gained over 1%.
Maruti is down 1.2% to Rs 795, Hindalco has declined 0.5% to 197. Tata Motors, Ambuja Cements, Hindustan Unilever and Grasim are trading marginally lower than Thursday's closing.
