Sensex up 106pts; ONGC slumps 3%

The Sensex touched a high of 12,087, and is now up 106 points at 12,045.

BHEL has surged 3% to Rs 2,434. Larsen & Toubro has advanced 1.8% to Rs 2,710.

Gujarat Ambuja has gained 2% at Rs 121, and Grasim has added 1.6% to Rs 2,415.

Tata Steel has spurted 2% to Rs 667. HDFC and ITC have rallied 1.7% each to Rs 1,320 and Rs 205, respectively.

ONGC has slumped 3% to Rs 1,347. Infosys is down 1% at Rs 3,198.

The market breadth is highly positive. Out of 2,065 stocks traded so far, 1,546 have advanced, 470 have declined and 49 are unchanged.

Thomas Cook has zoomed 17% to Rs 754. Mahindra Gesco, Kewal Kiran, Godrej Industries, Opto Circuits, Ruchi Soya, Todays Writing, Hinduja TMT, RCF, Aventis Pharma, HMT, Mastek, BEML, ICI India, Ashok Leyland, Sterlite are the other major gainers.

Patni Computers has dropped 4% to Rs 400. DCN Shriram Consolidated, Subex Systems, FACT, EIH, MphasiS BFL, Arvind Mills, Finolex Industries and Maharashtra Seamless are the other prominent losers.
