Sensex up 106pts; Tata Steel plunges 9%

The Sensex is now up 106 points at 15,101.

The NSE Nifty is down 21 points at 4,553.

HDFC has zoomed 7.5% to Rs 2,376. ICICI Bank and Wipro have soared 4% each to Rs 797 and Rs 392, respectively.

HDFC Bank has rallied 3.5% to Rs 1,314. Bharti Airtel and Hindustan Unilever have gained 2.5% each at Rs 797 and Rs 231, respectively.

Tata Motors and Larsen & Toubro have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 662 and Rs 2,887, respectively.

Tata Steel has plunged over 9% to Rs 579. Reliance Energy has tumbled over 8% to Rs 1,109.

DLF has slumped 6% to Rs 585. Hindalco has dropped nearly 4% to Rs 149, and Jaiprakash Associates has shed 3.5% at Rs 197.

BHEL is down 2% at Rs 1,810.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,674 stocks traded so far, 2,269 have declined, 366 have advanced and 39 are unchanged.
