Sensex up 108pts; ACC surges 4%

The Sensex is now up 108 points at 11,855.

Infosys is trading with a steady gain of 4% at Rs 3,235. The company today announced that its board will meet on April 14 to consider a proposal for bonus issue of equity shares.

ACC has flared up over 4% to Rs 873. Larsen & Toubro has surged 3.8% to Rs 2,739. Hindalco has rallied 3% to Rs 192.

Gujarat Ambuja has moved up 2.7% to Rs 110. Grasim has added 2.5% to Rs 2,224. Tata Power and Reliance Energy have spurted over 2% each to Rs 598 and Rs 642, respectively.

Dr.Reddy's has gained nearly 2% at Rs 1,490.

HDFC Bank has declined nearly 2% to Rs 826. Satyam and Ranbaxy are down 1.6% each at Rs 844 and Rs 466, respectively.

The market breadth is positive. Out of 2,257 stocks traded so far, 1,610 have advanced, 596 have declined and the rest are unchanged.

Gallan Metal has zoomed 20% to Rs 20.25. Hindustan Zinc, MRF, Rama Newsprint, Precision Wire, Hotel Leela, Tulip IT, Aarti Drugs, Sterlite Industries, IDFC, Zee, Neyveli, Raymond, Infosys and Ashok Leyland are the other major gainers.

Oriental Hotel has plunged over 7% to Rs 343. FCL Technologies, Saksoft, VST Industries, Dhanlakshmi Bank, Mahavir Spinning, MacMillan India, Sterling Biotech, Engineers India, Bank of India and Arvind Mills are the other notable losers.
