Sensex up 108pts; Rel Comm surges 4%

The Sensex is now up 108 points at 17,399.

Reliance Energy has zoomed over 12% to Rs 1,353. NTPC and ONGC have soared 5% each to Rs 203 and Rs 1,004, respectively.

Reliance Communications has surged over 4% to Rs 610. Grasim has gained 3% at Rs 3,620.

Ambuja Cements has advanced 2.7% to Rs 148, and Cipla has added 2.5% to Rs 187.

ACC and Mahindra & Mahindra are up 2.3% each at Rs 1,223 and Rs 769, respectively.

SBI has plunged 1.8% to Rs 1,916. TCS, ITC, Wipro, Tata Steel and HDFC Bank have dropped around 1.5% each to Rs 1,041, Rs 187, Rs 453, Rs 838 and Rs 1,418, respectively.

BHEL and Bajaj Auto are down over 1% each to Rs 2,007 and Rs 2,511, respectively.

Out of 2,796 stocks traded so far, 1,736 have advanced, 1,007 have declined and 53 are unchanged.
