Sensex up 110pts; Kotak Bank zooms 11%

The Sensex is now up 110 points at 10,919.

The index had touched a high of 10,992, after opening with a positive gap of 46 points at 10,855.

HDFC has rallied 3.4% to Rs 1,211. Satyam, Hindalco and Hero Honda have gained around 3% each at Rs 700, Rs 190 and Rs 850, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has surged 2.7% to Rs 2,426, and ACC has spurted 2% to Rs 816.

Bharti Airtel has slipped 1% to Rs 383. ITC is the other prominent loser among the Sensex stocks.

Out of 2,252 stocks traded so far, 1,517 have advanced, 677 have declined and the rest are unchanged.

Kotak Bank and Maharashtra Scooters have zoomed over 11% each to Rs 318 and Rs 387, respectively. Nitco Tiles, Kothari Products, Amar Remedies, Gati, Jindal Drilling, NDTV, GTL, Adani Exports, RCF, Indian Overseas Bank, Titan, D-Link India, Sterlite, Jaiprakash and Proctor & Gamble are the other major gainers.
