Sensex up 115pts; BHEL drops 3%

The Sensex is now up 115 points at 16,269.

The NSE Nifty is up 17 points at 4,897.

Infosys has soared 5.4% to Rs 1,592, and Wipro has surged 4.8% to Rs 445. Satyam has gained 1.7% at Rs 460.

Reliance Energy has rallied 3.5% to Rs 1,346. Hindalco has advanced over 2% to Rs 177.

ICICI Bank and Reliance have added 1.7% each to Rs 821 and Rs 460, respectively.

DLF and Reliance Communications are up 1.5% each at Rs 626 and Rs 528, respectively.

Ambuja Cements has plunged 3% to Rs 113, and BHEL has shed 2.8% at Rs 1,787.

Tata Motors and Jaiprakash Associates have slipped 1.5% each to Rs 616 and Rs 215, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and NTPC are down over 1% each at Rs 807 and Rs 243, respectively.

Out of 2,706 stocks traded, 1,964 have advanced, 669 have declined and 73 are unchanged.
