Sensex up 117pts; HDFC drops 2%

The Sensex is now up 117 points, at 14,781.

SBI has soared nearly 3% to Rs 1,574. Cipla has surged 2.6% to Rs 216.

Grasim and Larsen & Toubro have rallied around 2% each to Rs 2,678 and Rs 2,278, respectively.

ICICI Bank, Maruti, Tata Steel, Reliance Communications and Hindustan Unilever have advanced around 1.5% each to Rs 966, Rs 783, Rs 603, Rs 537 and Rs 192, respectively.

Tata Motors, Reliance, ITC and Bharti Airtel are up over 1% each at Rs 693, Rs 1,705, Rs 156 and Rs 847, respectively.

HDFC has tumbled over 2% to Rs 1,985. Reliance Energy is down nearly 2% to Rs 619.

Out of 2,514 stocks traded so far, 1,466 have advanced, 960 have declined and 88 are unchanged.
