Sensex up 119pts; BHEL rallies 3%

The Sensex is now up 119 points at 12,228.

BHEL has rallied nearly 3% to Rs 2,316. HDFC and TCS have advanced around 2% each to Rs 1400 and Rs 1,047, respectively.

HLL and Bajaj Auto have gained 1.7% each at Rs 255 and Rs 2,841, respectively.

Hindalco, Tata Steel, Dr.Reddy's, ONGC, Cipla, Satyam, ITC, Reliance Energy, Infosys and Maruti are the other smart gainers.

Reliance Communication has slipped 1% to Rs 342.

Out of 2,541 stocks traded so far, 1,443 have advanced, 991 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
