The Sensex touched a new life-time intra-day high of 10,732, and is now up 128 points at 10,723. Hindalco now leads the upmove with a gain of 5.6% at Rs 167. Tata Power has pared gains, but is still up nearly 5% at Rs 573. NTPC has surged 3.7% to Rs 136, and Reliance Energy is up 3.3% at Rs 654. Tata Motors has rallied 3% at Rs 931. Ranbaxy (Rs 448) and Tata Steel (Rs 467) are up nearly 3% each. ONGC has moved up 2.5% to Rs 1,175, and Reliance has added 1.8% to Rs 729. TCS, ITC, Infosys, BHEL, Cipla and ACC are the other smart gainers among the Sensex stocks. The market breadth continues to remain slightly positive. Out of 2,563 stocks traded so far, 1,393 have advanced, 1,108 have declined and the rest are unchanged. Kalpatru Power has hit the second consecutive 20% upper circuit at Rs 248. KEC Infrastructure, BOC India, Universal Cables, Uttam Galva, Mangalam Cement, Jindal Steel, Essel Propack, MRPL, Crompton Greaves, Ashok Leyland and TVS Motors are the other smart gainers. Williamson Tea has plunged 5.6% to Rs 375. Goodricke, Harrison Malyalam, McLeod Russel, Agro Dutch, Jayshree Tea, Hinduja TMT, Kotak Bank and Hindustan Zinc are in declining mode. |
