Sensex up 128pts; Tata Steel down 3%

The Sensex is now up 128 points at 13,734.

NTPC has soared over 3% to Rs 162. Hindalco has surged 2.3% to Rs 147.

Ranbaxy and Wipro have rallied around 2% each to Rs 344 and Rs 585, respectively.

ICICI Bank, Reliance Energy, ACC and Bharti Airtel have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 905, Rs 515, Rs 820 and Rs 812, respectively.

BHEL and SBI have advanced 1.5% each to Rs 2,580 and Rs 1,023, respectively.

Maruti, HLL, ONGC, Satyam, HDFC Bank, Reliance Communications, Cipla and Gujarat Ambuja are the other major gainers.

Tata Steel has slipped 3% to Rs 513.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,232 stocks traded so far, 1,418 have advanced, 743 have declined and 71 are unchanged.
