Sensex up 12pts; SBI, ICICI Bank advance

The Sensex is almost flat at 14,224, up 12pts.

ITC has soared over 3% to Rs 178. Reliance Energy has surged 2.8% to Rs 520.

Gujarat Ambuja has rallied 2% to Rs 137. Satyam and Ranbaxy have advanced around 1.5% each to Rs 471 and Rs 408, respectively.

SBI and ICICI Bank are up over 1% each at Rs 1,1697 and Rs 966, respectively.

Tata Steel has plunged 7.8% (Rs 40) to Rs 479. HLL has shed 1.5% to Rs 211.

Out of 2,588 stocks traded so far, 1,301 have declined, 1,233 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
