Sensex up 134pts, Cummins soars 10%

The Sensex touched a peak of 9830, and is now up 134 points at 9,820.

Larsen & Toubro has surged 4.6% to Rs 2,132.

Tata Steel has spurted 3.6% to Rs 377. Hindalo has moved up 2% to Rs 161.

Bajaj Auto has rallied 3.7% to Rs 2,215. Maruti has gained 2.5% at Rs 760. Hero Honda and Tata Motors are up nearly 2% each at Rs 874 and Rs 688, respectively.

SBI has advanced nearly 3% to Rs 911. HDFC Bank has added 2.2% to Rs 735.

ACC and Gujarat Ambuja are up nearly 2% each at Rs 564 and Rs 90.50, respectively.

Reliance has gained 1.8% at Rs 701. HLL has advanced 1.4% to Rs 197.

Infosys has moved up 1.8% to Rs 2,881. Satyam has added 1.5% to Rs 739.

BHEL, Tata Power, NTPC and Reliance Energy have also gained over 1% each.

Dr.Reddy's has slipped over 1% to Rs 1,070.

ONGC and ITC down nearly 1% each at Rs 1,265 and Rs 155 are the only other notable losers.

Out of 2,537 scrips traded so far, 1,204 have moved up, 1,266 have declined and 67 are unchanged.

Everest Kanto has zoomed over 15% to Rs 387. Tulip IT, Max India, Amara Raja, Lakshmi Machinery and Asian Hotels have soared over 10% each.

Cummins has soared 10% to Rs 180. Kochi Refineries, Suzlon, Crompton Greaves, Bank of India, Jaiprakash, Canara Bank, Moser Baer and Aurobindo Pharma have also posted significant gains.

Engineers India has dropped over 4% to Rs 850. United Phosphorous, Hinduja TMT, Bharat Electronics, Novartis, D-Link, FACT and Gillete are also on slippery ground.
