Sensex up 135pts; Ansal Infra drops 5%

The Sensex is now up 135 points at 10,944.

The index had touched a high of 10,992, after opening with a positive gap of 46 points at 10,855.

HDFC has surged over 4% to Rs 1,220. Satyam, Hindalco and Hero Honda have gained nearly 3% each at Rs 698, Rs 190 and Rs 850, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has rallied 2.6% to Rs 2,425. ACC and Tata Steel have advanced 2% each to Rs 816 and Rs 549, respectively.

Cipla and ONGC are up 1.8% each at Rs 238 and Rs 1,197, respectively.

Out of 2,295 stocks traded so far, 1,524 have advanced, 713 have declined and the rest are unchanged.

Ansal Infrastructure has plunged 5% to Rs 655. Zodiac Clothing, Rane Holdings, Mastek, Suven Life, Royal Orchid, Syndicate Bank, Atul, Kochi Refineries, Vijaya Bank, Gail and Reliance Communication Ventures are the other prominent losers.
