Sensex up 136pts; touches a high of 11,986

The Sensex touched a new high of 11,986, and is now up 136 points at 11,957.

Reliance and BHEL continue to hold gains of 4% each at Rs 927 and Rs 2,373, respectively.

Hindalco has surged 3.5% to Rs 207. Tata Steel has soared over 3% to Rs 607.

ONGC and NTPC have rallied 2.4% each to Rs 1,339 and Rs 143, respectively. HDFC has advanced 2.4% to Rs 1,315.

Grasim, HDFC Bank and Ranbaxy are up 2% each at Rs 2,285, Rs 848 and Rs 474, respectively.

Bharti Tele, Reliance Energy, ITC, SBI and Wipro are the other smart gainers among the Sensex stocks.

Infosys has slipped 1.2% to Rs 3,295. Larsen & Toubro is down nearly 1% at Rs 2,617.

The market breadth continues to remain positive. Out of 2,480 stocks traded so far, 1,346 have moved up, 1,058 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
